Embroidery Together

Description:

Embroidery Together is a student-run volunteer initiative for anyone interested in learning the art of embroidery. 

Volunteers learn embroidery techniques that can be applied to everyday items such as tote bags, handkerchiefs, cosmetic pouches, bookmarks, keychains, scrunchies, baby bibs, and pillowcases. Every volunteer hour results in a tangible, handmade item that can be donated to local organizations.

Completed projects can be donated to women's and domestic violence shelters, homeless shelters, children's hospitals, senior centers, public libraries, community centers, and foster care organizations. For example, embroidered tote bags and pouches can be included in care packages, bookmarks can support library reading programs, and pillowcases or baby bibs can provide comfort to children and families.

What makes these donations especially meaningful is their personal touch. Volunteers can embroider encouraging messages such as "You Are Loved," "Stay Strong," "Keep Going," or "Hope," or create cheerful floral, animal, or seasonal designs. Unlike mass-produced items, each piece reflects the time and care invested by its creator, reminding recipients that someone took the time to make something just for them.

Volunteer Hours

To receive volunteer hours, please email Ivy Ji at linglongmeiji@gmail.com with photos of your completed projects and the location where they were donated. In your email, also include the date, the total number of hours worked, and the amount of time it took to complete the projects. Ivy will forward all information to Compassionate Scholars’ senior volunteer Ms. Li Woen for verification and signature.
