Operation Myanmar

There are not many places worse in the world right now to be a student than in Myanmar (originally Burma). Rich in culture and history, the country is in despair at the moment, especially for educating their young children. With political unrest, poor economy, and now Covid-19, the opportunity to go to school for thousands of young children there is in jeopardy. According to UNICEF, ten percent of their children between the age of 6 to 9 do not go to school. By age 15, 30 percent are out of the school system. Not to mention the quality of education there is below standard compared to its neighboring countries. One if not the main reason is due to not having enough funding for the children to get the proper education.  It is time for Compassionate Scholars to help these unfortunate children get the education they deserved.

We are partnering with Dr. Patrick Chou, Ph.D., the CEO of Moringa For Love, in raising funds for these children to go to school. It costs $50 yearly for each student to get the necessary education in Myanmar. We plan to raise $5000 for 100 students to get an education across the country by the end of 2022.

We are now recruiting a minimum of 10 CS members to participate in this humane and meaningful initiative. Depending on how many participants, the members will be assigned to at least 2 teams, with a team leader for each group. Members will receive volunteer service hours upon completion, with opportunities to earn presidential awards. If you want to apply for the team leader positions, please submit your resume to info@compassionatescholars.org. After selection, you will be assigned other team members and you will manage the project.

Participants will procure donation merchandise, such as chocolate bars, or others, to resell for profit. If you are short of funds, you can apply for seed funding from CS, subject to approval. You could also roll the profit you made to purchase more merchandise to make even more profit. Once you reach your target funding, you can submit your donation and start a new round. This is an ongoing project.
